School Readiness
It is important that our little stars are ready to move onto their new chapter at school and that they feel confident and excited to start their new journey.
This is done by staff and parents encouraging the children by talking about school and working together to make the transition positive and smooth.
To prepare the children for being 'school ready' we actively encourage and invite the children to:
- Engage in phonics
- Follow simple instructions
- Use the toilet
- Undress themselves, put on shoes, bags and coats etc
- Communicate their needs
- Socialise with their peers
- Recognise their own name
- Follow boundaries
Some of the above may be difficult for children to achieve and may need further support.
This is why it is important to have a strong relationship and communication with parents and careers as many of these skills can be practised and learnt at home.
